I love mine.

Im not sure why all these bad reviews are here, found my first ecogear back in 2019 at my job and bought my own in 2020. Never replaced the battery and make sure I dont overcharge it (leaving things charging kills the battery) it dies a little quicker but plays on default volume for 5 hours before dying. Used to be 8.

Horrible for the money

I bought this speaker to take on our boat used maybe 3 times now it will only work if it’s on charge. Very disappointed will never buy another one.

Should last more then 2 summers.

I have a ecoxplorer- the sound quality is great and when I first used it the charge seems to hold up for hours- was very pleased with it until a week ago. It will not hold a charge at all. Only thing I can do is use the power cord to run it. I just called customer service and they told me the battery is not replaceable on that unit. The only thing they could do is give me a 20% off of a new one. I was hoping for a replacement. She told me that you have to charge the battery every 4 months or the battery will go bad- I've never of that before.

Battery swelled and doesn't work anymore

I frequently used it when I first got it, not very often as of late, before the battery swelled and quit working. The play time of the battery diminished throughout the few months I used it, ended up having to leave it plugged in to even come on, then the battery swelled and ot stopped working all together. I believe there is a recall for the batteries to get a new one, o just need to be pointed in the right direction

Sound is great BUT what good is that if it can’t play more than 1 hour

Highly highly disappointed. Had a Monster speaker before this that loved everything about it except for I felt in using at ballparks mostly that it lacked bass and could do better on sound quality. After 5 years and 8-10 seasons of baseball and soccer with the Monster speaker after a few too many direct shots off the grill behind home plate it dented in to the point it damaged the speaker. I wanted to get my wife a better sound for quality speaker so I felt it was worth the trade off of the Ecoxgear SoundEX battery life being about 40% of the Monster. The Monster having 100 hour life on single charge. The Monster we could literally go consecutive weekends (4 days) of continuous use on a single charge. The first use that my wife used the speaker it went dead in 6 hours. I haven’t even had it a year and it won’t even play 30 minutes on a full charge. The speaker looks brand new, never in water and always followed the manufacturer instructions on battery charging and storage. The speaker sounds good for speaker in this price range but what’s the point if it doesn’t even work. I’m not wasting my money on buying a battery to replace the garbage battery used in these. As a professional engineer myself, I’m highly disappointed in how a company would create a speaker with so many unique engineered designs but then fail to put the most important quality component in the box that makes it all work. THE BATTERY! My advice is buy a Monster speaker if you want a speaker in this price range that you can actually depend on to work. Makes me wonder how many paddlers and floaters out there thought they scored when they took this on their first trip only for it to go dead not more than a couple miles downstream.
